Budget Kitchen Makeover

Changing your kitchen can be a significant expense, and if it’s not in your budget, there are ways to make a difference.

Specialised products exist now that enable you to make a significant change to your kitchen without the expense and inconvenience of removing the old one!

With Jules and Cam, we worked together to change the kitchen from a dark 1990’s style kitchen, to a coastal feel with white and sage green, and a touch of pizzaz with brass handles and tapware

To transform this kitchen, we did the following;

  • Cleaned all surfaces using sugar soap

  • Stripped back any existing painted surfaces and lightly sand back surfaces to ensure a smooth finish.

  • Undercoated tiles, cabinet doors and benchtops using Smooth Surface Sealer.

  • Painted the tiled splashback in our colour of choice.

  • Painted all cabinet doors in our colour of choices

  • Painted the laminate benchtop using specialized Resene 2 pack paint system.

  • Changed the cabinet handles from silver/aluminium to brass.

  • Installed new pendant lights over the benchtop.

  • Replaced the kitchen mixer with a new brass mixer.

Products used;

  • Smooth Surface Sealer by Resene Paint – an adhesion primer that enables paint to stick properly.

  • Resene Lustacryl Kitchen and Bathroom – colour of your choice for cabinets and tiles

  • Resene Blackboard Paint

  • Resene FX Magnetic Magic Paint

  • Cutting in brushes

  • Rollers

  • Drill and filler to replace and/or reposition handles, if needed.

  • New handles and new kitchen mixer
